Volkswagen unveils 2012 Passat previously known as NMS(New Midsize Sedan)

Volkswagen has finally unveiled the New Midsize Sedan(NMS) just ahead of the Detroit Auto Show. Volkswagen has retained the name Passat for the New Midsize Sedan. The 2012 Passat has been designed for the North American market and will be built at the firm's new US plant in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

The new Passat has bigger dimensions compared to the present model, hence more passenger room can be expected. On the styling front, inspiration for the new Jetta can be made out both in the Exterior as well as interiors. The new Passat will launched in US by August 2011 with base price tag of $20,000.

VW looks past the recession with a new American-focused midsize sedan--and a new U.S. plant to build it. Larger than the Passat but designed to cost less, the "America" aims to be as family friendly--and popular--as the top-selling Honda Accord and Toyota Camry.
