Maruti Ertiga LUV facelift spied

Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is getting a facelift in India and here are the first spy pictures of the MUV (LUV), thanks to Gaadiwaadi.com. The facelfited Ertiga will be launched early next year.

Maruti Ertiga has been getting stiff competition from newly launched Honda Mobilio. Also plans of entering of new manufactures in the segment have further heated up the competition. Renault and Datsun are planning to launch a MPV in Indian market soon. Toyota is coming up with new Innova and since the Ertiga was basically launched as a low cost alternative to Innova, it makes sense to give a facelift make the MUV look fresh and elegant.

The Ertiga facelift will get some aesthetic changes in the form of redesigned bumper and grill, new set of alloy wheels and some interior changes to make it look attractive. Certain features could also be carried from the newly launched Swift, like push button start etc.

There will not be any major changes under the hood. The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga will be continued to be powered with the same 1.4L K Series petrol with 95 Ps power and 130Nm torque and the 1.3L DDiS diesel with 90 Ps power and 200 Nm of torque. There is expected to be minor changes in the gear ratios that will help in improving fuel efficiency.

In-spite of stiff competition, Maruti Ertiga managed to sell more than Honda Mobilio last month. Expect for a hike in Ertiga prices when the facelift is launched.

There is a styling sari guard with some plastic inserts. The motorcycle will feature a fully digital instrument console.

The 160cc engine is the new single cylinder air-cooled one and is likely to have traditional carburettor as there is no visible ‘PG-FI’ sticker on the spied motorcycle. The engine develops power output of 15-16 Bhp.

The bike has the familiar telescopic fort in the front and monoshock in the rear as suspension setups. Break systems include a standard front disc and an optional rear disc.

While Yamaha FZ FI2.0 and Suzuki Gixxer bet on the muscular looks, the CB Unicorn 160 will rely on the comfort and cost. The CB Unicorn 160 will be launched in early 2015 and is expected to be priced between Rs. 70,000 to 80,000.

Scoop: Suzuki YRA hatchback spied with little camouflage

Suzuki is developing a bigger hatchback than Swift for India as well as international markets. The test mule has been spied many times in Europe with heavy camouflage. Now, pictures of the car with little camouflage have surfaced on the net.

It is evident from the pictures that, Suzuki YRA hatchback has dimensions bigger than the Swift. The front end though resembles the Swift (because of headlamp design), YRA hatchback features a new grill inspired by Nissan. The side profile reminds us of yet another Suzuki hatchback S-Cross, where as the rear end seams to be all new design from Suzuki. Thought not pretty enough, the rear end gives a broad bold look to the car.

Interior pictures show an all new dashboard design. The massive boot offers luggage space that will shy any mid size sedan. More details from the hood is still remote. Suzuki might ponk in its 1.5L diesel which is almost in its final stage of development.

When launched in India by around 2016, YRA hatch will compete with Hyundai Elite i20 and soon to be launched new Honda Jazz. With the dimensions of YRA, it will surely be miles ahead of its competitors as far as space and comfort is concerned.

Datsun Go+ spied in India

Barely 6 month after the launch of Datsun Go hatchback in India, has its bigger cousin Go+ MPV been spied in India near Nissan factory in Chennai. Earlier, at the Auto Expo 2014, Datsun had announced the launch of its second model for India in the form of Go+ MPV by this year end.

The Datsun Go+ MPV is built on Go hatchback platform which in turn is based on Nissan Micra platform. Go+ MPV with its 1.2L engine and length of under 4 meters qualifies for small car norms and hence will get excise duty of only 8%. This makes Datsun Go+ MPV to be the first MPV coming in the small car category.

Fiat Punto facelift spied in India

A test mule of Fiat Punto facelift was spied near its factory at Ranjangaon. As seen from the picture, the Punto facelift features a redesigned headlamp, front and rear bumpers and a new set of fog lamps.

This is the first major facelift for Punto in India since its launch. Fiat has been struggling right from the beginning to make a mark in India. Though being a good car Fiat Punto has lost its ground to its rivals Swift, i20 and Figo. Fiat last year decided to go solo in their dealer network, ending a long partnership stint with Tata Motors.

Apart from exterior changes there could be minimal changes inside. The new dashboard from Linea could be a possibility in the Punto, but do not think of any changes under the hood. Fiat might carry on with the current 1.2L & 1.4L petrol and 1.3L diesel engines.

Renault Master people carrier spied in India

Renault’s people carrier ‘Master’ MPV has been spied in India amid heavy camouflage. The vehicle was spied during its test run in Pune. Though the vehicle has been covered extensively, the front end reveals it to be the Renault Master MPV. Notice the left hand drive position of the vehicle.

Will this means Renault is planning to launch a MPV in India? Certainly no. It is the Tata Motors which has flown down a test vehicle to India for preliminary testing. To remind our readers, Tata Motors has launched Winger MPV which is basically the older generation Renault Trafic. Tata Motors has bought the royalty and dyes to produce and sell Renault Trafic in the name of Tata Winger in India.

As like the Winger, Tata Motors is testing the possibility of buying and bringing older generation Renault Master and launch it with a new name here. Since Master is a luxury people carrier, it will be positioned above Winger catering to luxury mass transportation.

Tata Winger is powered by a 2 liter 90 Bhp diesel engine and we guess the company has two other engine options for Master MPV – the 3.0 liter 70/85 Ps engine of Sumo Gold or the modern 2.2 liter 140Ps VariCOR engine of Safari. Like for Winger, Tata Motors will only import the dyes and mechanicals of Master MPV and not its engine as it would be a costly affair.

Stay tuned for more updates on Renault Master based Tata’s new luxury people carrier.

Datsun Go hatchback spied on Indian roads

The Datsun brand was revived by unveiling of GO hatchback in July this year. The prototype of the car has been spied in Chennai doing testing rounds.

As seen in the pictures, the Datsun logo and GO monogram has only been covered unlike other test mules which have their whole body covered. That is because the car has been officially unveiled and the unveiled car is the production model and not a concept car.

Datsun GO is slated for launch early 2014. Probably the car will be launched at Auto Expo 2014 being held in February 2014. Built on the Nissan Micra’s ‘V’  platform, the Datsun GO is aimed to cater to the lower end of the car market. It is likely to be priced at around Rs. 4 lakh and will compete with Maruti Wagon R, Hyundai i10 and Chevrolet Beat.

Datsun GO will be powered by the same 1.2L petrol engine which powers the Micra and Pulse. However it is likely to be tuned for more fuel efficiency and anything around 20Kmpl is what can be expected from the engine. After its Indian launch, Datsun GO will be launched in Indonesia, Russia and South Africa.

Tata Indica Vista facelift spied now at Coimbatore

We had posted earlier about a facelift for the Tata Indica Indica Vista. Now more spy pictures of the Inidca Vista facelift has appeared on the net, thanks to Motor Vikatan for posting the pictures on his facebook page. The car with heavy camouflage was found testing at Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.

What we see from the spy pictures is the covering up of the tall tail lamps and only half of its portion uncovered. Will this mean the tall charismas tree tail lamps will give way to a new design? We and almost all the online motoring journos think so. Tata Motors might ditch the Christmas tree tail lamps and will design a new one, which could extend to the tail gate. Also seen is the number plate moving up from the bumper to the tail gate.

Though not much could be seen on the front end, according to sources, the Indica Vista facelift is likely to get a new grill inspired by Manza Hybrid concept shown at 2012 Auto Show. More angular air dams and fog lamp slits is likely to make the Vista facelift more appealing.

Powering the new Vista facelift will be the same 1.3L Quadrajet engine. But a 3 cylinder 1.1L developed in house from Tata Motors might make its debut here. As the 2014 Auto Expo is nearing, hope to see the new Vista facelift in flesh very soon.

Next Generation Maruti A Star spied in India

2014 Maruti A Star to debut 800cc diesel engine in India.

The next generation Maruti A Star has been spied testing in Gurgaon India. The new Maruti A Star codename ‘YL7’ had already been spied in southern Europe some time ago. Thanks to Vipin of Team-Bhp.com for bringing us the spy photo.

The ‘YL7’ is Suzuki’s global model likely to replace A Star and Ritz. Since Ritz is doing well in India, Maruti Suzuki might keep the Ritz along with the new A Star. Possibly the company had intensions to replace the existing A Star and Estilo with the ‘YL7’ model and hence stopped the production of Estilo. The sales of A Star is not too good and don’t be surprised to hear about axing A Star very soon.

The big thing about next generation A-Star/’YL7’ is that Maruti’s might bring in the 800cc 2 cylinder diesel engine with this model. Currently development of the small 800cc engine is going on and according to sources company aims at achieving record breaking fuel efficiency of 30 Kmpl.

The next generation A Star will make its appearance at the Auto Expo 2014 held in January 2014 at New Delhi.
