Nissan Terrano clear picture surfaces

Nissan Terrano has been caught in flesh, couple of days before its launch. The two Nissan Terranos seen in the picture below bears a new front and rear end which differentiates it from the Renault Duster.

The Nissan Terrano is not just a cosmetic make up of Duster. There are some sheet metal changes also to make the car look more premium. There is new headlamp, Nissan’s trademark grill, new bumper, tailgate mounted tail lamps and blackened pillars. New set of alloys can also be seen. Nissan has also tweaked the interiors suit to suit the premium segment.

The Nissan Terrano will use the same 1.5L diesel and 1.6L petrol engine of the Duster. Like its other models Nissan is likely to bring Terrano in XE, XL and XV variants.

Nissan to unveil Terrano on 20th of August

Nissan Terrano to be costlier than Renault Duster, to be positioned in premium segment.

Nissan India has officially confirmed that, its Renault Duster based SUV Terrano will be unveiled on 20th August. Nissan Terrano has been tested in and around Nissan’s factory in Chennai, spy photos of which have been posted on the net. Nissan had earlier released two sketches of the Terrano SUV, which though is a facelifted Renault Duster, looks different and better than it.

In the sketch we see the front end getting typical Nissan look with broad grill and sharp headlamps. The rear gets additional lamps on the tail gate giving a broader look to the vehicle. Apart from minor exterior changes there will nothing significant in the Terrano. However expect a lot of changes in the interiors, as Nissan aims to position Terrano in a premium segment.

Nissan will price the Terrano Rs. 50,000 higher than the Renault Duster, which is a reversal of the trend currently going on in Renault Nissan alliance in India.

Nissan to hike car prices from November 1st

After Maruti, Mahindra and Renault, its Nissan now this is increasing its car prices. Nissan will hike its car prices from 1st of November. The quantum of hike could be between 1 to 2% on all its cars except Evalia, since it has been launched recently and Nissan does not want to meddle with Evalia’s price. Nissan quoted rise in input cost and logistics due to fuel price hike for its reason to increase the prices of its cars.

Press Release
Mr. Nitish Tipnis, Director – Sales & Marketing, Hover Automotive India said, “The prices are being revised to partially offset appreciation in input and transportation costs. While all leading automobile companies raised prices earlier this year, we at Nissan absorbed rising input costs and held back the price hike. Although we have now reached the stage where we have to make an adjustment, I can assure all customers that both Micra and Sunny will continue to represent outstanding value within the market.”

Nissan Urvan/Caravan spied testing in India

The next big launch from Nissan in India could be Urvan/Caravan, a MPV with 10-14 seater capacity. Thanks to an autocarindia reader who could manage to click some spy pictures of Urvan/Caravan being tested near Chennai. Nissan recently launched Evalia MPV in India and now with Urvan being spotted, Nissan seems to be aiming high on mini mass transportation segment.

India could be a great market for mini mass transportation segment as we have only one vehicle in the form of Tata Winger which could carry 10 to 14 people and most of you would agree Winger will not give a good comfortable ride. The only other vehicle which could carry 10-14 people comfortably was the Mercedes Benz MB100 van which is now discontinued from the market. The Urvan/Caravan has 4 rows of seats with flexible seating configuration and will provide a better comfort travelling than most of the MPVs.

The Nissan Urvan/Caravan has a sliding door which makes entry and exit easy. The flexi seating and comfortable seats promises tireless long journey’s. The proven Nissan diesel technology will give unmatched fuel efficiency and power. In Philippines, the Urvan/Caravan is powered by a 3.0L 4 cylinder diesel engine which pumps out 105 Hp of power and 209 Nm of torque. The same engine could make it to India as well. We are sure, Nissan wont fint the same 1.5L Renault sourced diesel engine in Urvan/Caravan, otherwise it is sure to kill a winner in the making.
