Honda CB Unicorn 160 spied during TV commercial shoot

Honda CB Unicorn 160 which is expected to be the successor to CB Trigger has been spied during its Television commercial shoot. The CB Unicorn 160 will compete with Yamaha FZ FI V2.0, Suzuki Gixxer, TVS Apache RTR and Hero Xtreme Sport in India’s 150 to 200 cc motorcycle segment.

The front end of the vehicle bears a sharp styling with fuel tank being more or the same as that of its competitors. The seats are long enough to seat two people in good comfortability. There is a styling sari guard with some plastic inserts. The motorcycle will feature a fully digital instrument console.

The 160cc engine is the new single cylinder air-cooled one and is likely to have traditional carburettor as there is no visible ‘PG-FI’ sticker on the spied motorcycle. The engine develops power output of 15-16 Bhp.

The bike has the familiar telescopic fort in the front and monoshock in the rear as suspension setups. Break systems include a standard front disc and an optional rear disc.

While Yamaha FZ FI2.0 and Suzuki Gixxer bet on the muscular looks, the CB Unicorn 160 will rely on the comfort and cost. The CB Unicorn 160 will be launched in early 2015 and is expected to be priced between Rs. 70,000 to 80,000.

Scoop: Suzuki YRA hatchback spied with little camouflage

Suzuki is developing a bigger hatchback than Swift for India as well as international markets. The test mule has been spied many times in Europe with heavy camouflage. Now, pictures of the car with little camouflage have surfaced on the net.

It is evident from the pictures that, Suzuki YRA hatchback has dimensions bigger than the Swift. The front end though resembles the Swift (because of headlamp design), YRA hatchback features a new grill inspired by Nissan. The side profile reminds us of yet another Suzuki hatchback S-Cross, where as the rear end seams to be all new design from Suzuki. Thought not pretty enough, the rear end gives a broad bold look to the car.

Interior pictures show an all new dashboard design. The massive boot offers luggage space that will shy any mid size sedan. More details from the hood is still remote. Suzuki might ponk in its 1.5L diesel which is almost in its final stage of development.

When launched in India by around 2016, YRA hatch will compete with Hyundai Elite i20 and soon to be launched new Honda Jazz. With the dimensions of YRA, it will surely be miles ahead of its competitors as far as space and comfort is concerned.

Datsun Go+ spied in India

Barely 6 month after the launch of Datsun Go hatchback in India, has its bigger cousin Go+ MPV been spied in India near Nissan factory in Chennai. Earlier, at the Auto Expo 2014, Datsun had announced the launch of its second model for India in the form of Go+ MPV by this year end.

The Datsun Go+ MPV is built on Go hatchback platform which in turn is based on Nissan Micra platform. Go+ MPV with its 1.2L engine and length of under 4 meters qualifies for small car norms and hence will get excise duty of only 8%. This makes Datsun Go+ MPV to be the first MPV coming in the small car category.

Fiat Punto facelift spied in India

A test mule of Fiat Punto facelift was spied near its factory at Ranjangaon. As seen from the picture, the Punto facelift features a redesigned headlamp, front and rear bumpers and a new set of fog lamps.

This is the first major facelift for Punto in India since its launch. Fiat has been struggling right from the beginning to make a mark in India. Though being a good car Fiat Punto has lost its ground to its rivals Swift, i20 and Figo. Fiat last year decided to go solo in their dealer network, ending a long partnership stint with Tata Motors.

Apart from exterior changes there could be minimal changes inside. The new dashboard from Linea could be a possibility in the Punto, but do not think of any changes under the hood. Fiat might carry on with the current 1.2L & 1.4L petrol and 1.3L diesel engines.
