Honda’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Mr Jnaneswar
Sen has said that the Brio Amaze sedan will be priced very competitively which will
require high levels of localisation in India. The Brio Amaze might be priced
very close to its rival Maruti Dzire and don’t be surprised if the Amaze is
priced less than its competitor.
Given the track record of Honda, its cars have been priced with a
premium. In spite of commanding a premium, Honda cars have been selling in good
numbers as the customers in India don’t mind that extra penny to have a peace
of mind. But things have changed now. Honda with its new diesel car cannot mess
with the things at present and we feel commanding a premium over its competitor
will help Honda no where.
The high levels of localisation would mean you will not get the
same quality of the Brio Amaze sold overseas. Still the Amaze has a huge potential
given that the new 1.5 iDTec diesel from Honda, which of course will get under
the Amaze hood is the lightest diesel in its class and promises to deliver
class leading performance and mileage.
Maruti Swift Dzire is
priced at Rs. 6 lakh for base petrol variant and Rs. 7.5 lakh for base diesel variant
(Priced on-road Bangalore). We fell Honda might just priced Brio Amaze at Rs. 6
and Rs. 7.5 lakh for its base petrol and diesel variants respectively (Prices
on-road Bangalore).
