New Mahindra SUV slated for Dec 2010 launch

     According to sources Mahindra will launch its new SUV (codenamed: W201) in December 2010. Deliveries are expected to be in the first month of next year.

     The new Mahindra SUV will be priced around Rs 16 lakh and will take on with Toyota Fortuner, Chevrolet Captiva and soon to be launched Hyundai Santa Fe. It is expected to sport a 2.2 m Hawk engine or an all new 3 liter engine and exclusively an all wheel drive vehicle with seating capacity of 7 persons.

Exterior: huge grill, big tyres, sloping bonnet, wrap around headlamps

Interior: pentagon shaped A/C vents, nice touch to the speedo and rev counter, bigger comfortable seats

Yamaha to launch BW 125 Fi scooter in India

     With the success in the premium motorcycle segment, Yamaha is planning to launch a 125 cc scooter in India named BW 125 Fi. Yamaha BW 125 Fi was launched in International markets 2 years ago, and since then it has received overwhelming response from its consumers.

     Yamaha BW 125 Fi is powered by a 125cc, single cylinder and four stroke fuel injection engine. The ride is exceptionally good on both bad and flat roads, thanks to the stiff chassis, twin rear shock absorbers and front telescopic suspension.

     With extra space for storage, and an artfully designed instrument panel and loads of other features, it is expected to become the cat among the pigeons in Indian scooter market.

Renault seeking partner in India for its electric cars

     French auto giant Renault is searching for a suitable partner to launch its electric cars in India. Renault is in talks with various groups in India including the country’s lone electric car maker Reva.
     “We have been studying the scope of launching EVs in India. However a lot depends on the government support to roll out a proper EV product,” a Renault spokesman said.

     Renault has a series of electric cars in its portfolio namely Kango intra-city goods mover, Zoe mid-sized sedan and Twizy two-seater concept car.

Volkswagen to ramp up Polo production in India

     Volkswagen has decided to ramp up Polo production to clear back longs which has reached 5,700 units in last 2 months. Polo is manufactured in VW’s Chakan plant and till now 1,800 Polos have been manufactured with an average of 900 cars per month.


     Polo was launched in March and VW has sold 1,599 units of it so far of the total booking of 7,300 units. As of now the waiting period is as high as 4 months. VW wants to ramp up the production slowly as it does not want to compromise with the quality of the product.

Volkswagen to supply engine to F1 cars

Volkswagen has confired that it will play a good part in Formular 1 sports though not as a team but an engine supplier.


"it is clear that we are looking at Formula One, ‘but that VW is’ waiting for the FIA's decision in respect of the use of a world engine” as said by former grand prix driver Hans-Joachim Stuck, who is now VW's motorsport representative to a German magazine Sport Bild.

New Fiat Uno heads South America, will it come to India?

     The new Fiat Uno as you see in the picture is headed towards the South American market. Uno has been a very popular vehicle in Brazil and the new model which is a totally different vehicle might rewrite the history for Fiat.

     The new Uno is more practical, stylish, compact, mini SUVish and less boxy unlike the its preceder. It has all the essence of an urban mini car. It measures 3770 mm long, 1643 mm wide and 1490 mm high and wheelbase of 2370 mm. It positions between the Panda and Grande Punto and will be manufactured at Fiat’s Bentim plant in Brazil.

     Two petrol engine options are considered - 1 L 75 bhp and 1.4 L 85 bhp. Both the variants will have 5 speed manual transmission. An all wheel drive variant is also expected.


     The new Uno seams to be a tailor made for Indian markets. Its multipurpose role might create a new segment here. Hope Fiat thinks serious about it and launch it soon in India. With a price tag of Rs 5 lakh it could be a serious killer for the higly selling Swift and Ritz. Watch out Suzuki…
