Lotus Proton City Car gets production signal

     The small car jointly developed by Lotus Cars of UK and Proton of Malaysia has got approval for production of the concept. The City Car is aimed at European and Asian markets. A sportier version of the car is also on the cards.




Mahindra Thar launched in India

     Mahindra has launched the Thar jeep with 4x4 and 4x2 options. Thar looks like the old MM540 but with new chassis and loads of features. It is an off-roader with 2 and 4 wheel drive options and available in DI and CRDe  engine versions. It is a perfect vehicle for go anywhere attitude and the company is targeting such people who would like to do more of offroading.

     Thar is priced at Rs. 5.99 lakh for CRDe BSIV variant and Rs. 4.47 lakh for the DI 4x2 variant (prices ex-showroom Jaipur). The vehicle will be launched in New Delhi, Chandigarh, Bangalore and Mangalore by the end of December and all over the country in January.

     Mahindra gives an option for customization of Thar jeep which would cost Rs 2 lakh more than the cost price. Customization offered include – alloys, black leather seats with red piping and winch etc. 



Nissan Sunny officially unveiled at Guangzhou

     Nissan has officially unveiled its global sedan Sunny at the 8th China International Automobile Exhibition held at Guangzhou, China. It will go on sale in China from January next year and later sells in 170 countries under different names.

Peugeot Citroen to enter Indian Market

     French automobile manufacturer Peugeot Citroen is scouting to enter Indian Market by setting up facility in India. The company has already looked two sites in Chittor and Sitarampet both located in Andhra Pradesh. The company is in talks with the Andhra Govt. to provide incentives and also insist that the Govt. purchase their vehicles.

     Peugeot Citroen will invest around Rs 10,000 Crores in coming years. The company aims to create employment to over 10,000 people in India. 

Honda CB Twister named Indian Motorcycle of the Year(IMOTY) for 2010

     Honda CB Twister has been named as the Indian Motorcycle of the Year(IMOTY) for 2010 by a jury comprising of top journalists from various Indian automobile magazines. The jury incuded included Aspi Bhathena of Bike India, Pablo Chaterjee of BS Motoring, Girish Karkera and Debabrata Sarkar of Top Gear India, Vikrant Singh of Auto Bild besides Sirish Chandran and Shubhabrata Marmar of OVERDRIVE.


     CB Twister beat its nearest competitor Bajaj Pulsar 135 LS by mere 3 points. Other bikes in the contention were TVS Jive, Bajaj Discover150, Mahindra Stallio and TVS Max 4R.
