Tata Nano Twist launch on 13th Jaunuary 2014
Tata Motors will launch the power
steering Nano named Nano Twist on the 13th of January 2014. The Nano
Twist is equipped with Electronic Power Steering (EPS) sourced from ZF Friedrichshafen of Germany. Power steering option will be available only in mid and
top end variant. Tata Nano Twist will be priced Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 20,000 more
than the current models.
Tata Motors to launch Nano with power steering, name it as Nano Twist
Tata Motors will launch the Nano with a power steering by second week of January 2014. Though the Nano steering is light (thanks to the rear engine) steering the car during tight parking areas has been an issue. Earlier Tata Motors had worked on the steering column and front suspension to ease the problem but was not very effective.
Tata Motors has now decided to equip an electric power steering on the Nano sourced by ZF Friedrichshafen of Germany. The middle and top end variant will get the power steering options and will push the cost upwards by Rs. 15,000 to 20,000. Like Maruti and Hyundai used a suffix Spin and Xing respectively for their power steering cars Alto and Santro, the Nano will get a suffix too – Twist, so that it will be called Tata Nano Twist!
Renault Master people carrier spied in India
Renault’s people carrier ‘Master’ MPV has been spied in India amid heavy camouflage. The vehicle was spied during its test run in Pune. Though the vehicle has been covered extensively, the front end reveals it to be the Renault Master MPV. Notice the left hand drive position of the vehicle.
Will this means Renault is planning to launch a MPV in India? Certainly no. It is the Tata Motors which has flown down a test vehicle to India for preliminary testing. To remind our readers, Tata Motors has launched Winger MPV which is basically the older generation Renault Trafic. Tata Motors has bought the royalty and dyes to produce and sell Renault Trafic in the name of Tata Winger in India.
As like the Winger, Tata Motors is testing the possibility of buying and bringing older generation Renault Master and launch it with a new name here. Since Master is a luxury people carrier, it will be positioned above Winger catering to luxury mass transportation.
Tata Winger is powered by a 2 liter 90 Bhp diesel engine and we guess the company has two other engine options for Master MPV – the 3.0 liter 70/85 Ps engine of Sumo Gold or the modern 2.2 liter 140Ps VariCOR engine of Safari. Like for Winger, Tata Motors will only import the dyes and mechanicals of Master MPV and not its engine as it would be a costly affair.
Stay tuned for more updates on Renault Master based Tata’s new luxury people carrier.
Raikkonen’s relationship with Lotus ends early
The relationship
between Kimi Raikkonen and Formula 1 team Lotus has been through some
difficulties this year, and now it’s come to an early end as Raikkonen will
have back surgery this week and miss out on the Constructors Championship in
Austin, Texas, next week and the Brazilian Grand Prix at the end of the 2013
season.
Although an old back injury has been blamed
as the reason for his early exit, Raikkonen has not enjoyed his relationship
with Lotus this year, claiming he hasn’t been paid all of his salary this year.
In 2012, Lotus didn’t pay him until the end of the season and this year, it’s
thought that Louts owes him 17.15m euros in unpaid salary and bonus.
Lotus hasn’t announced yet who will step in for Raikkonen at the Austin race. There are two
drivers who look likely to replace him in the Lotus team next year – Nico
Hulkenberg (Sauber) and Pastor Maldonado (Williams) – but neither is likely to
be released from their existing contract early. So it looks like the Austin spot
will become available for Lotus reserve driver Davide Valsechhi.
At the time of
writing, Betfair has only given four drivers odds under 20/1 for being the
winning driver at Austin. These are Sebastian Vettel (2/7), Mark Webber (5/1)
and both Lewis Hamilton and Romain Grosjean at 16/1. Grosjean is, of course,
Raikkonen’s fellow driver at Lotus.
As for winning car
at the Constructors Championships, Betfair has put Lotus in as third favourite
– with odds of 10/1 versus the 1/10 odds for Red Bull.
While there’s an
overall feeling in the motor racing world that Raikkonen’s early exit from the
2013 Formula 1 season is more about the difficult relationship with Lotus
rather than a flare-up of an old back injury, that’s the party line that both Raikkonen’s
management and the Lotus team are sticking to.
