Ford Fiesta Classic spotted testing near Chennai

     Ford had announced couple of weeks ago that the current Fiesta will be named Fiesta Classic when the new Fiesta will be launched. The Fiesta Classic was found testing near Chennai where Ford has its manufacturing unit. The testing car bore a Classic badge on the right side of the boot.

     Ford will position Fiesta Classic in the ‘to be discontinued’ Ikon space with a stripped down version. As seen by the picture Fiesta Classic will have blackened number plate garnish, door handles and rear view mirrors. Fiesta Classic will be launched in Exi variant and will be priced between Rs. 5-6 lakh.

Renault developing a new small car platform India

     Renault has confirmed that it is developing a new platform named Global A for India on which a range of small cars will emerge in the future. The entry level small car from Renault will be priced at Rs. 3.5 lakh to compete with Maruti Suzuki Wagon R, A Star and Hyundai i10.



     Renault will share its manufacturing base with Nissan which has a plant in Oragadam near Chennai. Sharing the manufacturing unit will help Renault to price the small cars competitively. The Global A concept will be shown at 2014 Auto Show in New Delhi.

     Renault has plans to launch 5 new vehicles in Indian market in the next 5 years. First of them to come will be Fluence sedan which has already been spotted testing in Indian soil. It is slated for July 2011 launch. Following the Fluence sedan will Koleos SUV which is expected in the next six months. Both the vehicles will be assembled as CKD kits at Renault-Nissan’s Oragadam plant.

Tata Nano diesel caught testing in Pune

     According to Motorbeam, Tata Nano diesel was caught testing near Pune along with left hand drive Aria and Indica Vista. Tata Motors has been testing the diesel Nano from quiet some time as some spy pictures of the diesel Nano surfaced in the internet few months ago.

     Tata Nano diesel will get 700cc diesel engine developed by Bosch that could deliver 35 Bhp of power and 110 Nm of torque. Fuel efficiency of 30 Kmpl is what Tata Motors is planning to achieve with the Nano diesel. The diesel Nano will be launched by the end of this year with the price tag of Rs. 2 lakh+.

Toyota Etios Liva launch postponed

     Toyota has postponed the launch of its hatchback Etios Liva from April to June this year. Toyota wants to reduce the waiting period of Etios sedan by half the current time. Toyota is taking various steps to boost Etios production like starting a second shift, reducing the production time per vehicle and one of them is postponing the launch of the Etios Liva hatchback.
