Maruti launches next generation Wagon R in India

     Maruti Suzuki today launched the next generation Wagon R termed as “The Blue-Eyed Boy” in India priced at Rs 3.28 to Rs 4.12 lakh (ex-showroom New Delhi).


     The new Wagon R is powered by a 998cc 3 cylinder K-Series engine (K10B) which generated 68 PS of maximum Power. The engine used is the same one which powers the A-star and meets the Bharat Stage 4 norm. The new Wagon R will be manufactured from Maruti’s Gurgaon plant.

     "This new launch of Wagon R is important to Maruti Suzuki for many reasons. It demonstrates the growing research and development capability of the company," Maruti Suzuki India MD and CEO Shinzo Nakanishi told reporters.

     According to the company the new Wagon R return a fuel efficiency of 18.9kmpl. It also sports a new suspension and transmission system. The Air Conditioning has been improved with the HVAC (Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning) reducing the temperature by 4 degrees than the older model.

     The new Wagon R is bigger in dimentions with Length, Width and Height being 3595 mm, 1495 mm & 1700 mm respectively. The wheelbase has also been increase to 2400mm which is 40mm more. Increase in dimentions has lead to larger interior space and the space has been managed brilliantly.

     The exterior look though not very appealing, but gives the vehicle a new contemporary look. The headlamp has been tweaked so do the tail lamps. A new prominent front grill highlights the change in the new Wagon R. The rear quarter glass has been dropped paving way for thick C pillar. Interior gets a new dashboard. As of safety features, ABS, airbags and fog lamps are available only in the top end model.

Chevrolet Spark production crosses 1 lakh mark in India

     General Motors India, the parent company of Chevrolet has announced that it has crossed 1 lakh mark production mark for its popular small car Spark from it Halol plant in Gujarat. The Spark has been accepted well by the customers especially after the launch of the 3 year maintenance free program.


     Chevrolet Spark has been sold earlier in India as Daewoo Matiz which too had a great fan following. With minor changes in the exterior as well as interiors and better value for money package Spark has surpassed the aura which Matiz has established.

Tata Magic Iris launched with an ex-showroom price of Rs 1.98 lakh

     Tata Motors has launched it micro mini MPV Magic Iris at Jaipur priced at an ex-showroom price of Rs 1.98 lakh (Rs 2.12 lakh on road Jaipur). It will be then by available in various parts of the country. Magic Iris was unveiled at Auto Expo 2010 held at New Delhi, the florescent green Magic Iris did attract huge attention from the crowd.


     Magic Iris is powered by a 611cc, single cylinder water cooled BS3 complaint diesel engine producing max power of 11 bhp. It can seat 4 persons apart from the driver. The gear shift operated through cable with 4 forward and 1 reverse gear. The steering is simple mechanical rack & pinion type. 12 inch radial tyres have been neatly incorporated in the 4 corners of the vehicle. It gets a clean metal hard top which is main safety feature.

     Magic Iris is expected to work as the low end public transport and may be it might replace the fuel guzzling, smoke-spewing putur…. putur….putur autorikshwas.

     Since Magic Iris engine is only BS3 complaint, we guess that is why the vehicle has been launched in Jaipur, where it can be registered. 12 major cities which comply to the BS4 norms will not see Iris as of now.

Tata Indica Vista Drivetech4 – New Indica Vista BS4 version

     Tata Motors has released a new BS4 version of its popular hatchback Indica Vista named ‘Drivetech4’. The Indica Vista Drivetech4 comes with BS4 engines, Eurotech gearbox, Drive-by wire technology, ABS and Blue & Technology.




     The BS4 1.3L Multijet diesel engine is perfectly mated to 5 speed Eurotech gearbox giving higher torque, super silent operation and minimal vibration for reduced NVH, precise gear shifting, longer engine life and cooled exhaust gas recirculation for lower emissions.


     The BS4 1.2L Safire petrol engine is again perfectly mated to 5 speed Eurotech gearbox for increased fuel efficiency, enhanced refinement, smoother gearshifts and cooled exhaust gas recirculation for lower emissions.


     The Indica Vista Drivetech4 is priced between Rs.3,83,881/- to Rs.4,40,932/- for Petrol and Rs.4,40,932/- to Rs.4,63,890/- for Diesel variants (all prices ex-showroom Bangalore).
