Toyota to export Etios and Etios Liva to South Africa from India

Japanese automotive giant Toyota Motor Corporation will start exporting its Etios and Etios Liva cars to South Africa from India. The Etios concept was conceptualized keeping in mind the requirements of developing markets of which India was the main one. Hence Toyota maintains in Eitos ad campaigns saying “World’s First, India First”. The Etios exported from India will have little technical modifications to suit the local requirements in South Africa. Only petrol variants of Etios cars will be exported from India.

Toyota which has associated with Kirloskar Motors in India manufactures Etios and Etios Liva from its second plant which is situated next to the main plant at Bidadi, near Bangalore. The current production capacity of second plant is 80,000 untis which will be increased to 1,20,000 untis by 2012 and 2,10,000 units by 2013. The sheer volume speaks about Toyota’s seriousness about making Etios cars.

Mercedes Benz to launch R Class diesel in India in 2012

Mercedes Benz will bring in a diesel version of its MPV R Class in India in 2012. Currently Mercedes Benz R Class is available with a 3.5L V6 petrol engine with 272hp of power.

Mercedes Benz unlike its German competitors is the only company with a 7 seater MPV in the luxury segment in India. Since the competition is minimal, Mercedes can create a good business opportunity in this segment by bringing in a diesel variant.

The Mercedes R Class is a versatile MPV with lots of features such as rich infotainment system and huge luggage compartment.  The chain of luxury hotels in India is using Mercedes Viano and top-end Innova as luxury vehicles to transport their client. A diesel R Class can be the perfect vehicle for these hotel operators to provide a styling and comfortable service to their customers.

Mahindra XUV500 bookings cross 6000 in just 2 days

The latest launch from Mahindra, the XUV500 has already clocked 6000 bookings in just 2 days after its launch. Mahindra has cleverly priced the XUV500 base model at Rs. 10.8 lakh, though it is only the introductory price.

Mahindra XUV500 will compete mainly against Toytoa Fortuner, as intended by the company but we feel the XUV500 has some more enemies. The XUV500 will lock its horns with Force One and soon to be launched facelifted Tata Safari. But comparing the other two models, XUV500 seems to be ahead with them in leaps and bounds.

No wonder the XUV500 has got high bookings. Why would anyone buy a Fortuner if everything it offers is available in XUV500 which is 40% cheaper than the former.
