Renault introduces Kwid 1.0 with a bigger and powerful engine

        Renault India today introduced a bigger capacity engined Kwid with a starting price of Rs. 3.82 lakh ex-showroom Delhi. The new Kwid 1.0 as it is called is powered by a more powerful 999cc 3 cylinder petrol engine with power output of 68 Ps and torque of 91 Nm. The old 799 cc petrol motor had figures of 54 Ps and 72 Nm.

        The Kwid 1.0 is only available in RxT and RxT (O) trims and costs Rs. 22,000 more than Kwid 0.8L RxT trim. The bigger engine however brings the fuel efficiency low with the Kwid 1.0 delivering 23.01 Km for a liter of petrol.

        The Kwid 1.0 gets black and white chequered decal with ‘1.0’ lettering on the side profile. An all new gloss grey ORVM looks fantastic on the car. Currently the Kwid 1.0 is mated to a 5 speed manual transmission but an AMT version is around the corner to be launched soon.

Datsun Redigo launched, price starts from Rs. 2.39 lakh

        Datsun India today launched the most stylish entry level hatchback Redigo with prices starting from Rs. 2.39 lakh for the base variant (Ex-showroom, Delhi). The Redigo will be available in 5 trims - D, A, T, T(O) and S. Presently the Redigo is available in only petrol variant.

        The Redigo is built on the Kwid platform and though being more stlyish is priced below the Kwid. The car even undercuts the price of largest selling car in the country, the Maruti Alto 800. Here are the price of Datsun Redigo trims in Delhi (Ex-showroom Price):

Mahindra launches limited/special edition Scorpio Adventure

Mahindra has launched a limited/special edition variant of its Scorpio SUV christened as Scorpio Adventure. It is based on the top end Scorpio S10 variant and is available in both 2WD and 4WD. Price of the Scorpio Adventure 2WD is Rs. 13.07 lakh ex-showroom Mumbai and the 4WD variants costs a lakh more.

       The Scorpio Adventure gets two tone exterior colour scheme, Adventure themed decals, gun metal grey alloy wheels with red brake callipers and smoked tail lamps. In the interior there is faux leather seats with blue fabric inserts plus faux leather wrapping for steering wheel and gear lever.

        Only 1000 units are for sale and it is an ultimate attempt from Mahindra to keep the aging Scorpio alive.

Renault Kwid launched in India

        Renault has officially launched its Kwid small car in India priced at Rs. 2.56 lakh Ex-showroom, New Delhi. The Kwid is available in only petrol variants and comes in 4 trims – Std, RXE, RXL and RXT.

        Renault KWID is an ambitious car from Renault, particularly by Mr. Carlos Ghosn. The can has been designed in collaboration with Indian as well as French designers. The KWID features a unique SUV like design which is not seen in an entry level car segment.  

        The KWID is powered  800cc, 3 cylinder petrol engine which manages to pump out 54 Ps of power. The engine is basic and has no modern technology involved in it. Being a 3 cylinder motor you will notice high noise levels in the first gear, but as the speed picks up, you have to be very keen to appreciate the sound of the engine.

        As said by Renault chief, the KWID will be a game changer in India. With AMT option on the cards, Renault has a good product to cheer the Indian customers.

All new Ford Figo launched in India

        Ford Motor Company today launched the all new Ford Figo in India. The new Ford Figo price starts from Rs. 4.29 lakh for base petrol variant and Rs. 5.29 lakh for the base diesel.

        The new Figo comes in 2 petrol and 1 diesel engine options. The 1.2L petrol has power of 88 Ps @ 6300 rpm and 1.5L petrol pumps out massive 112 Ps @ 6300 rpm which too much for a small car. The diesel 1.5 TDCi has power output of 100 Ps @ 3750 rpm which again is powerful engine in the small car segment.

        Ford Figo has an automatic variant only in the form of 1.5L petrol. The other variants get 6 speed manual transmission. Front airbags are standard and the new Figo is the only car in its segment to offer 6 airbags as an option.
