Tata Motors launched BS4 version of Indigo CS called the e-Series with a little hike in the price. The Indigo CS e-Series is powered by a Common Rail diesel engine with maximum power output of 70 ps @ 4000 rpm and maximum torque of 140Nm @ 1800-3000 rpm.

Tata Motors working on Rs 3 lakh car

Tata Motors is said to be working on a car bigger than the Nano and smaller than the Indica aimed at Rs 3 lakh. Tata Motors is currently lacking a model in the price range of Rs 3 to 4 lakh because of which it is losing considerable amount of market share in the hatchback segment. With the move of launching a car around Rs 3 lakh the company wants to bridge the gap between Nano and Indica.

Some time ago the news of a small car ‘codenamed X2’ from Tata Motors between Nano and Indica surfaced but seamed to be gone in the winds. Now its been official that the new small car is named as Dolphin and will be on roads by 2012. Industry sources claim that it could be a outgoing gift to the company boss Ratan Tata who will retire from the post in couple of years time.

Dolphin might sport an engine with capacity of 800 to 1000cc. Tata Motors engineers are working hard to rectify the problems which they faced with initial Indicas and Nanos to make sure that their gift to their boss is worth the man he is.

Moselle Development Agency of France has invited Tata Motors to invest in Moselle province to manufacture the Nano Europa. Daimler’s Smart city car is also being manufactured at Moselle and Canadian automobile component manufacturer Magna has also set up its unit at Moselle.

According to the Agency, the cost of land there is around 10 Euro per sq meter which is one-tenth of land costs in Germany & Luxembourg. The province is well connected to major centers via road, air and river transportation. The availability of raw materials such as steel and plastics required to build a car is also good. Mahindra to end JV with Renault, to sell Logan under its name

Home grown SUV manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra will buyout the 49% stake in the Mahindra Renault JV and sell the lone brand in the JV under its own name. That means Logan will now be sold as Mahindra Logan and not Mahindra Renault Logan.

Mr Anand Mahindra has not disclosed the amount of the 49% stake buy out in the JV and said Logan is an innocent car and deserves one more chance. Logan had been highly successful vehicle when it was launched but some how lost track down the line thanks to the Govt. policiy of cutting down the excise tax on the small cars.

Mahindra is allowed to build the Logan for the next five years in India and is working on various options on the Logan platform, a mini SUV on the Logan platform with a 1.5L CRDi engine is on the cars and is expected to hit the roads not less than 2012. Mahindra now has the rights to change the dimensions of Logan, that means we see lot of changes in the exterior, interior and a sub-4 meter car which is soon going to be launched as Logan CS pitted against Indigo CS.

Renault association with Logan will be used till the end of 2010 and from 18 months from now Mahindra will sell Logan as a different brand. Mahindra will pay royalty to Renault for each Logan cars sold as percentage per car which is bare minimum in terms of cost of the car.
