Hindustan Motors launches new Ambassador Grand at Rs. 7.03 lakh

     India’s older car maker Hindustan Motors has launched new Ambassador Grand priced at Rs. 7.03 lakh (On road Bangalore). The Ambassador Grand is BS4 complaint and provides unmatched space and comfort.


     The Ambassador Grand is powered by a OHC MPFI 1817 cc petrol engine with power of 71 Bhp @ 4800 rpm and torque of 13.7 Kgm @ 2250 rpm. Transmission is through 5 speed manual synchromesh gear box and dry disc clutch type with 215 mm clutch diameter.




The new Ambassador Grand has following special features

     Power steering is optional with 5.4 meter turning radius. The new Ambassador Grand gets Independent suspension with torsion bar springs and anti-roll bar with hydraulic telescopic double acting shock absorbers at the front and Semi elliptical leaf springs with hydraulic telescopic double acting shock absorbers and metallic bushes at the rear.


     The car measures 4325 mm in length, 1662 mm in width, 1593 mm in height. It has wheel base at 2464 mm and ground clearance of 152 mm.. Braking is through Servo assisted front disc and auto adjuster drum at rear. The car rides on 4J x 15 wheel wrapped with 165 / 58 R 15 (Radial) and 165 R-15 tyres


     The new Ambassador comes with 50,000 Kms or 1 year warranty. Seven different colour shades are on offer - Jet Black, Lunar Silver, Fire Brick Red, Oyster Blue, Ecru Beige and Crystal White.



Tata Nano now sold in Big Bazaar

     Tata Motors has struck an agreement with Future Group to sell the Nano car across its consumer retail network. This is the first initiative by any car company in India. The Tie-up is a win-win situation for both Tata Motors and Future Group. Tata Motors will be benefited by sales as well as brand building and Future Group will explore the business of auto sales from its outlets.


     The Nano will be displayed at 120 outlets of Big Bazaar and the customers who book the car here will get gifts such as gold coins and vouchers worth Rs. 1500.


     Tata Nano sales had declined in November but has picked up since December 2010. The company sold 8000 odd units in February making into top 10 cars in terms of sales.

Discounts on Honda cars in India this March

     Honda Cars India is giving attractive discounts on its range of cars. The company is giving Finance offer, Retail offer and Special corporate offers on its cars. The offer is valid till 31st March 2011.


     In the Finance offer, there is attractive finance scheme on purchase of Honda cars. In Retail offer Jazz has discount of Rs. 55,000/-, Accord has Rs. 1,00,000/- off and the City and Civic has some attractive offers. In the Special corporate offer Jazz gets Rs. 18,000/- discount and City, Civic and Accord gets Rs. 20,000/-, Rs. 25,000/- and Rs. 30,000/- off respectively.

TVS Motors to relaunch electric scooters by 2011 end

     South Indian two wheeler manufacturer TVS Motors has said the company will re-enter the electric scooter segment by the end of this year. The company is currently testing 50 electric scooters in different cities.




     TVS Motor Company President (Marketing) H S Goindi said "We are working on introducing electric scooters and these are being experimented for the launch. By some time next fiscal, it will come (to the market)."

Tata Motors launches bulletproof Safari in India

     It is the first time in the Indian automobile history that a vehicle manufacturer has launched a bulletproof variant. India’s home grown automobile manufacturer Tata Motors has launched an armored Safari SUV which costs Rs. 60 lakh, making it the cheapest armored vehicle in the country. The vehicle can be purchased directly from the Tata Motors dealers unlike other bulletproof vehicles which has to be modified after sales. The bulletproof Safari though would sell in few numbers, it will definitely grab the attention of politicians and high profile businessmen in India.


     
     You will hardly find any difference in the bulletproof Safari from outside, but it can withstand an underbelly hand grenade explosion without affecting the fuel tank, thanks to the use of explosive suppressant material. The glass area can also withstand heavy artillery and ammunitions.


     The bulletproof Safari has got NIJ Level III/B6 protection and car run for 50 Km distance with flat tyres at the speed of 50-60 Kmpl. Suspension systems has been fine-tuned to manage the added weight of armory. The vehicles done 150 Kmpl as top speed and can ascend a slope of 60%.


     Last year Tata Motors had launched armored versions of Land Rover vehicles.

Honda Brio Indian preview postponed

     Japanese auto giant Honda has postponed the preview of its small car Brio in India because of the devastating tsunami and earthquake that hit Japan last week. Honda Brio was to be previewed in India on 17th of this month.


     The company said in a statement "In light of the recent devastating earthquake that hit Japan, causing massive damage to life and property, Honda Siel Cars India has postponed the Honda Brio India preview event scheduled to be held on March 17, 2011. Honda Siel Cars India extends heartfelt condolences to all those who have suffered or lost their near and dear ones in this tragic disaster and stands in solidarity with the Government and people of Japan,"
