Mahindra W201 SUV spied again, now in Bangalore

     Mahindra’s W201 SUV is in the news every alternate days these days. IAB reader Vijayakumar could snap the Mahindra W201 being tested in Bangalore. Mahindra is extensively testing the vehicle to sort out all the niggles before its launch. By the size it is evident that Mahindra will position it to rival Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour. Expect the W201 to be priced around Rs. 16-17 lakh.


     The W201 is the Global SUV from Mahindra. With minor alterations it can be sold in other markets as well. US market is the one Mahindra is aiming for and the W201 project holds a lot to the company’s future plans abroad.


     The W201 is expected to be powered by the Scorpio’s 2.2 liter CRDI engine coupled to both automatic and manual transmissions. A micro hybrid could also be expected soon after the launch. The monocoque chassis and front wheel drive with horizontally mounted engine is one of the salient feature of W201.


     Mahindra has tried to give W201 a unique design. This is evident from the door handles and the arch over the rear quarter glass. The tail lights have barrel bulges like the recent Scorpio. Interiors is also been designed to meet the latest trends.

Next generation 2013 Audi A3 sketches preview


     Audi has released three new tease sketches of its upcoming next generation A3 model. Sketches reveal a three-door hatch and a four-door sedan which look alike.
     The next generation A3 has bigger dimensions than its preceder. The next A3 will also feature a hybrid, plug-in hybrid and all-electric drivetrain options as well as the usual crop of petrols and diesels.

     General Motors owned Chevrolet India has introduced a new variant of its Cruze sedan with jet black interiors and with added features as well. The jet black interior Cruze is priced at Rs. 11,92,602/- (ex-showroom, New Delhi) and will be available in all the Chevrolet dealerships across the country.




     The new Cruze will be available in two different colours – Switch Blade Sivler and Sandrift Grey in three variants LT, LTZ and LTZ AT. Aprat from the jet black interiors the new Cruze features Audio Controls on Steering Wheels, USB Port for audio system, Bluetooth connectivity in audio system, Automatic Climate Control, Illuminated vanity mirror, Automatic inside rear view mirror, Rear seat with new seat cushion design, Advanced 6 speed automatic transmission.

Ford Fiesta Classic launched, priced from Rs. 5.49 lakh

     Ford India has launched its successful sedan Fiesta in a strip down version named ‘Fiesta Classic’. The Fiesta Classic is priced between Rs. 5.49 – 5.99 lakh for petrol variants and Rs. 6.48 – 6.89 lakh for diesel variants (Prices ex-showroom, New Delhi).


     From the first look you will be surprised to see not changes in the exterior. But when you pop into the car the Fiesta Classic difference can be appreciated. Lot of changes in the interior has been done from instrument cluster to center console to door trims. The instrument panel gets dual tone jasper blue treatment, the center console is graphite finished and the door trims too get dual toned.




     The New ebony and Hub-styled seat fabric highlights the interior of the car. Six side adjustable seats ensure you to sit comfortably and so do the power mirrors which works with a mere click.






     Technology wise the Fiesta Classic has moved one step further. The car is fitted with superior technology such as GEM (General Electronic Module) and PCM (Power Control Module) which enhances the performance in terms of low fuel consumption, low emission and critical eninge diagnostics. The DTE (Distance to Empty Meter) adds to the advanced technology of the car which helps to estimate the distance the vehicle can travel before it runs out of fuel.


     As we said earlier about the exterior, there are no changes except for the ‘Classic’ badge at the rear. The Fiesta Classic will be available with a new Colorado Red colour along with the existing colour shades.


     Under the hood the engine remains the same, a 1.6L Duratech petrol with 101 Ps of power and 1.4L Duratorq diesel with 68 Bhp of power. Three trim levels - LXI, CLXI and SXI are available in both petrol and diesel variants.

Maserati arrives in India

     Fiat owned Italian luxury car manufacturer Maserati has finally come to India. In the foot steps of other luxury car manufacturers Maserati entered India at a time when the demand for luxury cars is increasing. Maserati’s entire range of cars will be available for sale in India. That means you can own a Quattroporte or a Gran Turismo or a Gran Cabrio in India without any import hassles, but of course you need to super rich to do so.






     Maserati has authorized Shreyans group to sell its cars in India. Shreyans group will open its first showroom in Mumbai very soon followed by another in New Delhi. It will expand to 7 major cities with individual dealerships and full service network by the end of 2015.


India is the 63rd market where the Italian carmaker will sell its cars.
