Chevrolet Aveo Mini SUV rendering

     Chevrolet has recently announced about the development of baby SUV based on the Aveo platform. Here is the rendering of the mini SUV by Mr Shoed R Kalaria.


     The new SUV will be designed and engineered at GM’s Korean R&D center (Beat and Cruze were also designed here). The new SUV will feature both front wheel drive and all wheel drive options along with 6 engine options.


     We hope, Chevrolet to act quick and launch in this lucrative Indian mini SUV market.

Chevrolet Beat LPG and Diesel to be launched by year end

     Chevrolet will launch the LPG variant and a Diesel powered Beat small car in Indian market by this year end. Chevrolet Beat LPG was spied during its test run near its factory at Talegon.


     General Motors has invested Rs 5000 crores for setting up its new engine plant which will be operational by November this year. The plant will have a capacity of 1,60,000 engines per year manufacturing both Petrol and Diesel power trains.


     The small diesel engine which will be fit into the Beat will be manufactured in the same plant. The engine will use 1.3L Multi Jet technology with one cylinder less. This makes the engine to be under 1.0L and hence lighter. It is expected to deliver power of 55 to 60 bhp which will be very good for a small car.

Chevrolet Tavera to get Rhino engine

     Since the Chevrolet Tavera did not meet the new BS IV emission norms, it was pulled out from BS IV cities. Now Chevrolet has planned to source the engine from local manufacturer ICML. The engine sourced will be a sub 2 liter diesel with 100 bhp which does the duty in ICML Rhino MUV.

     Chevrolet Tavera was powered by a 2.5 liter diesel which did not meet the BS IV emission norms. Hence it had to be pulled out by major cities which caused drastic fall in the MUV sales.

     Chevrolet will launch the ICML engine powered Tavera by the end of this year and hopes to boost sales in MUV segment.

Chevrolet Beat Diesel launch by early 2011

     General Motors will launch diesel variant of Chevrolet Beat hatchback by early next year. The company has announced the manufacturing of 1 litre diesel engines from its Talegaon plant which will power the Beat. Beat has been received well by the customers and a diesel option will be a feather in the GMs crown.

Chevrolet Aveo CNG launched in India

     Chevrolet has launched a CNG variant of its mid sized sedan Aveo in India. The Aveo CNG runs on both petrol and CNG fuel and will be available in select markets in India.

Mr Karl Slym - “The launch of the Aveo CNG is a testament to the importance that GM India attaches to green technology and environmentally friendly mobility solutions. Its running cost is approximately 54 percent lower than a similar vehicle powered by petrol and 25 percent lower than a similar vehicle powered by diesel. Because of the lower operating economics and the growing number of CNG stations being built across India, this new offering is expected to appeal to both individual and fleet customers. Under normal driving conditions, the Aveo CNG has a range of 180 to 200 kilometres on a full tank of CNG and is BS IV compliant.”

The Aveo CNG is equipped with next generation computer controlled CNG injection technology along with host of many other features

- Seqential injection kit for precise fuel delivery and efficient combution.

- Stable performance of engine in CNG mode.

Chevrolet Spark production crosses 1 lakh mark in India

     General Motors India, the parent company of Chevrolet has announced that it has crossed 1 lakh mark production mark for its popular small car Spark from it Halol plant in Gujarat. The Spark has been accepted well by the customers especially after the launch of the 3 year maintenance free program.


     Chevrolet Spark has been sold earlier in India as Daewoo Matiz which too had a great fan following. With minor changes in the exterior as well as interiors and better value for money package Spark has surpassed the aura which Matiz has established.
