Renault India shows Kwid in its latest ad

Renault India has rolled out a new ad showing its cars Duster, Lodgy and Fluence endorsed by bollywood heart throb Randeer Kapoor and guess what, you happen to see Kwid driven on the road as well. The Kwid is shown as “coming soon” which means the car will be launched soon in India. Renault global chief Mr. Carlos Goshn has announced Kwid launch in India by September 2015.

Renault had revealed the Kwid hatchback in May this year. The car was designed in India along with French designers to suit Indian customers and yet being a Renault. It was low cost car project to be an entry level car from Renault, to sell in volumes and perhaps give competition to market leader Maruti Alto. The car will be priced between Rs. 3 and 4 lakh, as said by Mr. Ghosn.

The SUVish design of Kwid makes it stand different from its competitors. The size of the car is also another feature which pulls it ahead from other cars like Maruti Alto, Hyundai Eon and Datsun Go. Kwid gets basic interiors but functions very well and a touchscreen console is the first in its class. Fit and quality of the product will be of good quality as it is a Renault.

Powering the car will be 800 cc petrol engine. A 1 L petrol engine is also on the cars in the near future. But for diesel, Mr. Ghosn has said absolute no, citing the cost issues. But for the looks of the car a 2 cylinder scaled down Duster’s 1.5L dCi engine would have been a good option. Perhaps no other manufacturer could have even come close to Renault Kwid diesel.

Renault will certainly be keen to look for the market response of Kwid in India and we are sure Kwid will get a diesel engine in the future. Are you listening Mr. Ghosn?
